Research abstract

Ampaire proposed to mature capabilities of the Talyn Air Phase II modeling and digital twin project for UAS vehicles. Ampaire has developed a flexible and scalable hybrid powertrain technology, the AMP DriveTM, that provides best in class efficiency from JetA/SAF supplemented by battery energy without the significant loss of payload-range from all-electric or immaturity of hydrogen-based alternatives. Ampaire will leverage the two AMP Drive power class prototypes, the AMP-H570  and AMP-G125, being developed and integrated on Ampaire's other AFWERX contracts for the twin King Air and for VTOL UAS applications to validate modeling through prototype test data. For this proposal Ampaire plans to mature two areas of the existing model:Propulsion Model: to incorporate hybrid electric propulsion options including architecture (series, parallel, multi-mode), energy storage options (commercial and future batteries), sensitivity tools related to hybrid fraction and energy management to different objectives. A stretch goal would include fuel cell evaluation tools.High Resolution Physics Models: introduce FEA, CFD, and accurate time-stepping modeling where it drives decisions analysis
