Research abstract

The purpose of the preceding Phase I SBIR was to identify the feasibility of next generation weapon planning software that is compatible with working in the NOMS architecture, aligning the compatibility and interoperability between Air Force and Navy stakeholders through rapid production of microservices. During the Period of Performance, BrainGu conducted an intensive study of Research/Research and Development to determine the technical feasibility of the proposed concept and associated topic areas, explore, and resolve problems. BrainGu explored anticipated benefits, clearly defined needed solution adaptations, milestones and acceptance criteria for Phase II efforts. Additionally, BrainGu engaged many potential End-Users/Customers to understand their current needs. Consistent findings were that complex differences both between platforms in use at various organizations, as well as differences between the same platform from version to version, are impediments to rapid software delivery and can be minimized and mitigated through sufficient automation, consistency, and maturation of platform capabilities.ĀBrainGuÆs commercial catalog currently includes products such as our Structsure Platform, our Internal Developer Platform that supports SmoothGlue, and solution offerings such as our Mission Application Development, custom application development accelerated by SmoothGlue. Our flagship application, WIDOW, was prototyped using SmoothGlue under our Mission Application Development solution offering and is continually enhanced and maintained using the SmoothGlue framework. Our SmoothGlue Framework is the underlying technology that we have used toĀ bring rapid iterative prototyping of a cloud-native Mission Planning Application to the Air Force and the Navy through NAVAIR PMA-281, to jointly, interoperably, and digitally plan air combat exercises. For the Navy, we were able to extend WIDOW to NavyÆs Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) via OSA and ACS. We understand what it takes in order to not just migrate, but ensure that the Navy can benefit from the use of legacy applications from other branches of the military while afloat.ĀIn 2023, BrainGu leveraged our Mission Apps solution offering to prepare the US Space Force's MASE application to integrate with CANES, leveraging OSA, in order to further provide additional capability to Operators on Navy vessels, even in disrupted or denied environments, all while maintaining one codebase for ashore and afloat operations. Leveraging true Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) capabilities will bring this critical intelligence directly to the warfighters. These and other experiences, combined with our unique platform technology and a Developer Experience-centric approach lend BrainGu a significant depth and breadth of capability to deliver on the objectives set forth in this proposal.
