Research abstract

The BAILIWICK-DA (Baseline for Artificial Intelligence Learning of Indications and Warnings from a Cellular Kit Data Access) initiative, proposed by Knowmadics, Inc., addresses the challenges faced by the U.S. Government in sensor-based intelligence gathering, particularly in hard target areas. Traditional sensors are often limited by their cost, time-consuming development processes, and logistical hurdles in placement and data extraction. BAILIWICK-DA offers a novel approach by leveraging the ubiquitous presence and diverse capabilities of cellular sensors, which can be accessed commercially or through other means. This methodology aims to utilize the vast array of sensors present in everyday cellular devices, such as GPS receivers, gyroscopes, barometers, and accelerometers, to collect data that is both comprehensive and relevant. These sensors can detect and interpret environmental changes, user activities, and other signatures of interest, providing valuable intelligence. The project will involve characterizing target locations, deploying a tailored sensor swarm, and efficiently handling the massive volumes of data generated. This approach circumvents the need for foreknowledge of events and allows for a broader and more flexible scope of data collection. The data acquired will be processed to extract valuable insights, providing a scalable and cost-effective alternative to traditional methods. BAILIWICK-DA represents a significant advancement in intelligence collection, harnessing the power of commercial technology for defense and security purposes. Its implementation will enhance the Department of Defense's ability to monitor and analyze activities in challenging environments, offering a discreet and passive method of data collection with widespread applications.
