Research abstract

Ballydel Technologies will develop a novel, bifunctional probe that is suitable for the detection of both mustard gas and phosgene. During the Phase I effort, we will synthesize this probe compound in-house and demonstrate its ability to detect simulants of mustard gas and phosgene at extremely low levels in solution. We will also develop a chemical approach that integrates this compound into a sprayable formulation during the Phase I effort. The Phase II effort will focus on demonstrating the system feasibility of the spray system, including its ability to detect the CWA at a level of 0.01 g/m2 on a variety of surfaces.
