Research abstract

The CoachMePlus software platform delivers a scalable human performance platform that covers all five Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) disciplines. The US Army, Air Force (USAF), Navy (USN), and professional and collegiate sports teams across the NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, MLS, and NCAA have recognized the power of applied science and next-generation human performance analytics to uncover fitness trends, develop insights, reduce injury risk, and maximize readiness. In collaboration with The Informatics Applications Group (TIAG), a leader in military medicine and Health Information Technology, the CoachMePlus platform has been tailored for the DoD as the Warrior Performance Platform (WP2). WP2 provides for multi-channel data collection, enabling holistic evaluations that can be tailored to reflect each command’s unique requirements. During the initial Phase II H2F Management System SBIR, through a series of demanding field studies, our team validated the ability for WP2 to centralize and display human performance information, centered on the H2F operating concept of fitness, nutrition, sleep, mental, and spiritual readiness. This included integration of personal wearable fitness and physical activity tracking devices. To better prepare WP2 for technology transition to support Army and other service human performance optimization requirements, several enhancements are necessary. These include: enhanced self-service programming capabilities; offline mobile application functionality; improved automation and content discovery tools; a Global Time Zone capability; and Enhanced Group Management. By adding these capabilities WP2 will allow users to establish their baselines fitness level, set a target goal, factor in the available fitness resources, and be delivered a relevant program they can follow.  In addition to testing with Army users, a pilot project with the U.S. Navy will validate the suitability of WP2 as a tool to support Navy and other-service human performance objectives.
