Research abstract

ExLabs is developing its ACQR system for Rendezvous Proximity Operations (RPO) capture mission profiles for LEO debris mitigation, defense purposes, and on-orbit services, with long-term pursuit of utilizing it for NEO Asteroid capture and redirection. The ACQR system Use or disclosure of data contained on this page is subject to the restriction on the first page of this volume. is a combination of advanced hardware, artificial intelligence software, and sensors designed for RPO capture solutions of any object, without the requirement for docking compatibility. The AI system will be used to create a capture docking solution that can be utilized on a variety of objects, by a variety of vehicles and mission profiles. It is designed to de-risk non-compliant rendezvous proximity operations and enables non-compliant RPO missions such as capture, redirection or de-orbiting of an object. The ExLabs ACQR system would enable new capabilities in Space Mobility and Logistics by providing a new universally adaptable capture docking solutions system and mission profile for non-cooperative RPO. This could be applied defensively to man-made as well as natural objects that pose a threat to national or planetary security. This also includes other military initiatives in LEO and beyond. ExLabs is making the ACQR a plug-and-play system so that it may be adapted to existing vehicles in the theater of operations, non-military commercial vehicle system in addition to the ExLabs SERV, a 30 ton super heavy class satellite vehicle designed for capture and redirection of objects up to 30 meters. Capture and control capabilities are critical for the continued US leadership in the domain of space. To this end, the development of a capable software & hardware solution utilizing artificial intelligence, will result in a high-impact breakthrough in America’s space dynamics capabilities. The national defense implications of this technology provide a guidance system for the capture and control of man-made objects of interest, as well as deorbiting or repositioning of satellite objects of interest. The technologies we are developing will enable the handling of objects that may pose a threat to LEO space and national defense.
