Research abstract

Parabilis Space Technologies, an SBA-certified small business, is pleased to propose the development of the Rapid Propellant Loading System (RPLS), a rapid and reliable ASCENT loading system, in response to SF233-0022, Rapid ASCENT propellant loading operations. This system leverages the ‘lessons learned’ from the approach and hardware used on the Green Propellant Infusion Mission (GPIM) to reduce friction in the overall process with all range equities, enabling responsive space access and reducing overall cost. The RPLS combines modern digital tools and equipment with safe and proven propellant loading techniques to provide a rapid and reliable approach to ASCENT loading for future missions. During Phase I, requirements will be defined. Based on those requirements a conceptual design of loading system hardware will be completed along with a digital twin.  Next a CONOPS for the operation of the system will be created, operational procedures will be drafted, and a timeline for regulatory and range safety approval will be created. Additionally, a business plan will be drafted based on the future commercialization potential of this endeavor. Completion of Phase I will position Parabilis for build of the RPLS propellant GSE (PGSE) and refueling demonstration during the subsequent Phase II effort. Parabilis and its personnel hold the necessary explosive user permits and are permitted for purchase and use of ASCENT at Parabilis facilities.
