Research abstract

In response to DARPA SBIR solicitation HR0011SB20234XL-04, Triton Systems, Inc. (an SBA Tibbetts Award Winner for Success in Commercializing SBIR derived technologies), along with our key technical partners, propose to develop a Fast, Light, Airworthy, Repackable ParachutE (FLARE) for the Department of Defense.  Triton’s dual-pronged approach will demonstrate both a safe and reliable repack system that requires the single push of a button as well as a separate system that completes the difficult flaking and folding steps of packing a parachute, leaving a few minor steps to close the container and jump the parachute.  The proposed development will result in systems that significantly reduce exposure and detection risk of jumpers on the ground and reduce downtime and manual effort required between jumps. Both systems will be lightweight, unobtrusive, and provide equal or greater parachute opening reliability as compared to existing military personnel parachute systems. The separate systems will then be combined into a single repackable and jumpable system design.
