Research abstract

The Phase II project aims to establish a solid foundation for the successful initial steps into the commercialization of sustainable domestic hardwood trailer decking products. This project will prioritize pilot-scale manufacturing and marketing efforts, focusing onĀoptimizing manufacturing technologies, enhancing durability treatment, evaluating decking prototypes on military and commercial trailers, and assessing scalability. Through collaborative partnerships with universities, federal research institutes, private industry, combined with state and local small business centers, we seek to ensure product performance, scalability, and market readiness. The outcome of this project will pave the way for the successful launch and adoption of these engineered innovative trailer decking solutions for this important industry. The ultimate environmental benefit will be for those non-sustainable rainforest timbers, where Apitong is harvested.
