Research abstract

While performing under SBIR Phase I (Contract #W5170123C0029) -ĀĀ"Art + Science Geospatial Innovation," we learned that traditional data and its visualizations do not show enough of the human aspect of a conflict.Ā It lacks contextualizing blowback, fallout, or collateral damage of key civilian infrastructure.Ā Tactical decisions made in the name of expediency lack perspective of their long term effects.Ā As an example, destruction of key pumping stations, ōtoday,ö in attempting to neutralize a target means no ability for a populace to feed itself, ōtomorrow,ö in the post conflict world.Ā This has inspired our team to find ways to incorporate data that can reflect and shed light on the whole environment of a conflict.Ā We have prioritized data points which are integral to peacekeeping.Ā By taking this approach, we aim to minimize harm while maximizing trust and fostering mutual understanding. ???????
