Research abstract

There exists a mission need in combat operations to accelerate the Find, Fix, Track, Target, Engage, and Assess kill chain timeline. Advancements in manufacturing and reductions in size, weight, and power of electronic devices have enhanced the ability to develop uncrewed airborne platforms. With this capability, both state and non-state entities can produce large numbers of uncrewed weapon systems. However, these platforms lack collaborative autonomy capabilities, resulting in delayed formation of required solution accuracies and uncoordinated engagement of targets by a team, such that each platform may deploy weapons against the same target instead of intelligently engaging a set of targets. Venator has developed a novel, hierarchical, and decentralized architecture called ACCESS to perform distributed data fusion and a distributed fusion-aided system called ACTE to make Weapon-Target Assignments. Venator proposes to integrate these capabilities into a Sensor- and Weapon-Based Intelligent Fusion and Targeting (SWIFT) application that can be integrated and demonstrated in the near-term on relevant uncrewed airborne platforms. Venator anticipates these capabilities will shorten the kill chain timeline and will more effectively and efficiently allocate weapons to targets, reducing the number of platforms and/or weapons required to accomplish mission objectives.
