Research abstract

The Empirical Proving Ground for Cryptographic Engineering Challenges in Large-scale Deployments (EPiC EagLe) is a distributed trust evaluation platform that can test and evaluate various distributed Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) trust solutions, such as the DoD’s Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) for connected battlespaces. Leveraging Arkham Technology’s KMI-aware Cryptography for Hyper-scale Architectures in a Robust IoT (CHARIOT), the EPiC EagLe  platform simulates hyperscale-scale deployments of distributed trust solutions under realistic network conditions and scenarios, and provides sound, state-of-the-art, experimental methodologies, and operational benchmarks for evaluating their performance, security, resilience, efficiency, and usability. The platform can also integrate with existing KMI systems and experiment with novel distributed trust solutions that address the specific needs and challenges of connected battlespaces. The EPiC EagLe platform aims to advance the state-of-the-art in distributed trust research and development, and to support the transition and commercialization of distributed trust solutions to DoD, Federal, and private sector customers. The EPiC EagLe platform is a “virtual empirical proving ground in-a-box,” which runs on both cloud-based or on-premises servers, depending on the using Government agency’s security or operational requirements. The EPiC EagLe platform also provides a user-friendly interface that allows users to configure, control, and monitor the platform using various tools and features. The EPiC EagLe platform is developed by an industry renown team of companies, who are experts in network security, cryptography, simulation, data analysis, software development, and project management.
