Research abstract

Mission infrastructure to support mobile launch from austere, rugged environments is currently a gap in the market. The Mobile Payload Processing Center (MPPC) is purposely designed to meet the unique needs of payload processing anywhere in the world. This capability will allow payload preparation, maintenance, and logistics to occur on site. Design considerations in our unique design include working in a clean environment, ESD sensitivities of hardware, large volumetric space to allow for modern payloads, covert insertion, ease of transport, and safe handling. Safety and human factors have been taken into consideration for the MPPC. Safety consideration include those necessary to handle payloads that may be pre-loaded with propellant. AGILE has a long history developing purpose building custom containers for the aerospace industry, with multiple unique designs deployed and in use for handling and transporting hypergolic materials and products. This capability has made us uniquely suited to deliver a solution for mobile payload processing. The Mobile Spacecraft Processing Infrastructure for Tactically Responsive Launch SBIR program has three main objectives. One, release requirements for and finalize architecture for the MPPC. Two, we will design the key technological features unique to the MPPC. Third, we will demonstrate the feasibility of the MPPC via a live walk through a facility that we will build.
