Research abstract

Triton proposes to develop its RIEMANN cognitively intelligent network architecture in response to this solicitation by the Navy. RIEMANN is an acronym for ō infoRmatIon Exfiltration and coMmunication Architecture of autonomous uNderwater seNsorsö. More specifically, the Navy is seeking to develop a set of algorithms that working in an automatically coordinated fashion will enable the creation and demonstration of dynamically self-aware, distributed-computing-based, autonomously reconfigurable networks of nodes involving multiple, heterogenous, long-endurance underwater sensors and unmanned vehicles of differing computational capabilities. Moreover, the interconnected communications and sensing nodes must be able to automatically form a cooperative communication and data exfiltration mesh network that exhibits self-discovery and dynamic reconfiguration among network nodes operating inside a 3D underwater volume in a mission-driven way. This will allow the nodes to assume different roles and networking behaviors in the presence of link impairments and possible node failures based on their individual computational and communications capabilities as well as their location.
