Research abstract

Rumble Development Corp. is an expert developer of FPGA based imaging systems, and SIONYX, LLC is an expert developer of Low Light, Color, CMOS sensors and cameras.  Our combined experience with developing custom Camera Modules for both DoD and Commercial applications ideally positions the Rumble/SIONYX team for Phase 2 of the Large Format Low Light Color Sensor program, and adapting our existing XRB-9951 Camera Module to the requirements of the Apache platform. We have a strong track record of  successfully delivering advanced imaging capabilities to US DoD applications including the recent Army IVAS camera module program, where the SIONYX/Rumble team won the production program and delivered more than 15,000 IVAS cameras to the Army program.  Our team has a solid history of compliance to program requirements, schedule, and budget for developing camera systems and for adapting existing cameras to end user platform requirements as evident in our Phase 1 performance.  In the Phase 1 program we successfully achieved or exceeded across all program requirements and delivered a functional camera prototype for government evaluation.  As we move into Phase 2 we will leverage prior work on the XRB-9951 camera.  This camera module is a ‘Large Format’ derivative of the XRB-1350 Camera Module, both of which are part of many government programs and commercial applications.  The XRB-9951 is production qualified and can be paired with a wide variety of integral lens options or integrated with customer provided lens configurations.  Over 100,000 XRB-Family Cameras(1350, 9951) have been delivered to Government and Commercial customers over the past several years.  The core CMOS sensor represents the same ‘Black Silicon’ technology incorporated across the entire product family, producing Color Low Light imagery down to 0.5 mLux.  The Rumble/SiOnyx team has over 200 person years of combined experience in developing Low Light CMOS Sensors and Cameras.  In Phase 2 we will deliver a fully tested Low Light, Color Camera ready for integration into the Apache M-TADS system using the existing lens and platform interfaces.  Our XRB-9951 Camera will replace the existing M-TADS unit, which does not provide low light color, and is reportedly becoming obsolete,   Thus, we will develop a mechanical and electrical “drop in” camera to the existing M-TADS camera socket ready for government testing.
