Research abstract

Triton Systems, Inc proposes to develop a solution using data compression algorithms that enables large amounts of acoustic data to be transferred or uplinked from airborne Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) sensors systems, including sonobuoy sensor systems, to airborne platform receivers. Compression algorithms can be categorized as lossless or lossy depending on if they recover the signal completely or not. A lossy algorithm can compress the signal more, but loses accuracy that affects detection, classification, and localization performance. TritonÆs solution will maximize acoustic data transmission over a 320 Kbps data link.
