Research abstract

In the contested Multi-Domain Operations space, adversaries look to compromise the communications environment. It is increasingly possible for large portions of the radio frequency (RF) spectrum to be jammed. InstaJam is an Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) plugin that instantly displays and shares compromised radio frequency ranges. Every Airman will become an accurate, mobile, real-time sensor.  The InstaJam ATAK plugin consists of three key components: Immediate detection of jamming on the Radio Frequency (RF) Spectrum InstaJam provides real-time information on which frequency ranges are jammed. JTACs can customize their own frequency ranges that mirror their PACE plan. Warfighters receive instantaneous feedback on available channels of communication.   Reliable mesh networking that allows for data aggregation across all units InstaJam will leverage mesh networking technologies (such as MANET) to aggregate data across all units on the field. This is critical to allow users to share and monitor communication channels. Entities like central command can make informed decisions about how to eliminate the jammer and where to deploy warfighters. Display of jamming location overlaid on TAK geospatial map data  Live and historical data about jamming can be displayed on a map using the TAK map data. Users can mark tracks and areas of interest to monitor.
