Research abstract

TRI Austin and proposes developing advanced ultrasonic testing (UT) inspection techniques for this inspection of carbon-carbon material through the manufacturing process. Phase I work demonstrated effective inspection of C-C up to 1.1” thick, and potential for thicker.  In particular, we propose a unique wide bandwidth air coupled UT approach for non contact high fidelity materials properties measurement and defect detection.
