Research abstract

Ross-Hime Designs, Inc.  (RHD) Minneapolis, Minnesota is pleased to respond to the Air Forces Phase II proposal invitation AF192-064 TITLE: MIL-PRF-85285 Capable “Controlled-Spray” Head for Automated Stenciling of Aircraft Marking. It is a follow on to RHD’s successful Phase I SBIR Air Force contract no. FA857120C0005.  The objective is to further develop RHD’s MIL-PRF-85285 topcoat capable, high accuracy printing head to allow for the implementation of robotic printing capabilities of aircraft markings. RHD has demonstrated in Phase I a practical solution to this problem.  Repaired aircraft parts must be repainted prior to reinstallation, and marked in accordance with T.O. 1-1-8, per AFMCI 21-117. The 402nd CMXG at Robins Air Force Base currently utilizes robotic technologies in their repainting processes but automated marking has remained a major bottleneck. RHD has solved this problem and is excited to present this Phase II proposal to further develop this technology.
