Research abstract

A system for automatic monitoring and communicating environmental conditions aboard a distressed submarine to rescuers is outlined. Through hull communications is accomplished via JANUS compliant modems utilizing existing hull penetrators like transducers and lights. The system would allow rescuers to interrogate the submarine's internal environmental conditions without the aid of the crew. Crew could interact with the system and directly talk with rescuers though the speaker and microphone of the system providing them with additional information that may be critical for a successful rescue.
