Research abstract

Sonitus Technologies Inc. has leveraged patented technology developed for the medical device industry and elite US military partnerships to create an in-the-mouth wireless sensor platform which is uniquely positioned to both (a) make audio communication immune to outside influences in any environment and (b) capture physiological data from inside the body. This unique ability eliminates the need for external components on the head (such as ear pieces, external microphones and wires) and without the need to modify personal protective equipment such as helmets, masks and protective clothing. The first Sonitus product, the Molar Mic™, is an audio communication system comprised of (i) a small wireless, mouthpiece device that clips to the tooth and creates a two-way audio interface, (ii) a digital NFMI wireless body network that enables real-time communication into and out of the body, and (iii) PTT and peripherals that integrate to external devices such as a radio, phone or intercom. Sonitus proposes to leverage its in-the-mouth device as a sensor platform through integration of multiple commercially available physiological sensors and the digital NFMI wireless body network to convey information in and out of the user’s body. The sensors embedded in the mouthpiece will be uniquely positioned to capture
