Research abstract

Phase II research efforts focus on advancing the development of the switchable polarizer light control films for pilots and warfighters. The light control films utilize AlphaMicron's propriety liquid crystal technology to provide adjustable tint on demand with millisecond switching times, fails to clear, and excellent optics. Research efforts include the development and fabrication of single and double curved light control films for use in eyewear and display visor applications.Through fabrication and characterization of prototype devices, a catalog of materials suitable for pre-production level prototypes will be created. This strategy provides a crucial element on the path from prototypes to commercial products using the technology.
