Research abstract

We have a technology for the rapid heating of asphalt in small batches to be used as patch for asphalt or concrete pavement. The system uses pre-mixed Hot Mix Asphalt with special materials allowing for almost infinite long shelf life and the ability to heat on demand when patching is needed. By being able to heat on demand in the quantities needed, the patch system performs like normal hot patch material but with the convenience of cold patch material (small quantities). In addition, the system allows for patching to happen in all ambient temperature environments making it more versatile for use regardless of the time of year. Further, because the material is pre-made and packaged, it has the ability for easy transport to remote areas where patch material is hard to come by or can't be transported from a batch facility easily.
