Research abstract

The enclosed RAPID Phase II proposal documents successes and results of Orbital Insight’s Phase I SBIR engagement with Air Force (AF) End Users and plan for Phase II engagement. Orbital Insight provided access to our GO Platform to provide DIY Geospatial Analytics at petabyte scale to AF users. The GO Platform provides a series of dual use computer vision (CV)-based algorithms for monitoring objects of interest to commercial and government customers. Applied to space-based remote sensing technologies, the algorithms produce counts in a user’s area of interest (AOI) -- providing insights on trends and anomalies that empower analysts to focus on analyzing change events themselves rather than manually identifying them. For certain use cases, Orbital Insight has found that CV algorithms are 2,000 times faster than humans. The GO Platform facilitates multi-source and multi-sensor data fusion (EO, IR, SAR, RF) -- visualizing trends in time series that easily export to other GIS and analysis tools. For a Phase II follow on to this engagement, Orbital Insight proposes to build additional custom features and object detection algorithms for the Air Force that are either dual use for government and commercial use cases or dual use Air Force and other Government users.
