Research abstract

Our Occupancy Profiles for ENErgy Reduction (OPENER) effort provides critical new technology and innovative features to support the Air Force’s requirement for “Occupancy assessment and control of smart buildings and resilient infrastructure. OPENER leverages existing operational situational awareness (SA) and monitoring technologies and our team’s experience to deliver an autonomous energy optimization and next-generation energy management capability. Importantly, the framework for our OPENER solution is already being used to support other Air Force programs and as a result has already been fully accredited for operation on AF/CE networks. Leveraging these resources allows us to focus our Phase II effort on delivering innovative data capture, visualization, analysis, and decision support features to enable next generation energy optimization and provisioning. During Phase II, we will deliver capabilities in multiple spirals providing the opportunity for more effective interaction, communication, and evaluation by both the AF sponsor and end user community.
