Research abstract

BluEyeQ LLC and Los Alamos National Laboratory are pleased to propose an interoperable network of Internet of Things (IoT) enabledradiation detectors. With the emergence of high performance, low cost networking equipment and Big Data cloud analytics, the opportunityexists to harness the vision and intelligence available from distributed sensor data. Our proposal demonstrates a path to modernize pastradiation detector investments into a holistic, integrated solution that is agnostic to the types of sensors deployed. The 2018 NuclearPosture Review highlighted a return to great power competition, and detailed expanded nuclear capability by a number of state actors. This does not diminish, but enhances, the threat of nuclear terrorism that has been in focus since 9/11. Increasing proliferationamplifies the importance of squeezing all possible capability from the radiation detection assets protecting our nation to deter orstop attacks before they begin. The Government has made significant investments in radiation detection capability along, within, and beyondour borders, but many deployed units do not share their measurement information in near real-time. Our proposal seeks to augment radiationdetection capability by adding communication and standardization, essentially taking an IoT approach to networking these legacy andemerging systems. BluEyeQs core business is the development, installation, and analytics support for Industrial Internet-of-Thingscustomers. Our proposed solution results in dual-use technology that reduces end-user costs while strengthening our nation againstnuclear attack.
