Research abstract

Cornerstone Research Group Inc. (CRG) proposes to leverage teaming partners’ expertise in wildlife observation and active ecological intervention efforts to apply advances in network communications, image recognition, positioning systems, and miniature electronics to demonstrate a smart, remote control rover for low-cost, tracking and environmental monitoring with real-time streaming of data viewed by an operator. The team proposes to develop a semi-autonomous mobile observation system that can be remotely operated for environmental monitoring and land surveying. Implementation of this approach can minimize labor intensive biologist transects, and potentially reduce budgetary pressures for historically costly surveying programs.
