Interferometric ISAR Imaging of Maritime Targets for Improved Classification

STR will develop a high-altitude ISAR processing chain specific to the MFAS (AN/ZPY-3) radar to enhance ISAR image quality. The high-altitude ISAR environment is characterized by differences in image aspect and scattering phenomenology compared to low-altitude modalities and these differences should be accounted for in the design ISAR processing chain. Over the course of this Phase II effort, we will conduct a study of current MFAS ISAR image quality, develop a prototype high-altitude ISAR processing chain aimed at improving image quality, and explore approaches for high-altitude ISAR feature exploitation. Phase III will focus on further development that will lead to a processing chain and associated algorithms which could be implemented on the Triton platform leading up to eventual transition.
