Research abstract

This Phase II proposal focuses on the Air-to-Air RCS/RF Verification Scenario as providing the highest return on investment from industrial commerce and for benefit to the DON for operational RCS/RF Verification. The overall objectives of the Phase II Base and Phase II Option programs is to exploit the extensive capabilities of STAR’s BlueMax G7 Extreme Instrumentation Radar while employing custom state-of-the-art flat panel array antennas to significantly advance RCS verification of LO aircraft in the operational environment. Within the Phase II Option, a prototype system will be tested and delivered. This system will also be capable of stimulating and evaluating RF signals emanating from the vehicle under test (VUT) while in flight. This system will be designed to be deployed in an inventory wing-pod shell that would allow the RCS/RF diagnostic to be deployed on several aircraft in the Navy fleet, allowing critical measurements while at sea and at DON facilities worldwide.
