Research abstract

This effort will develop a gamification capability for the AN/SQQ-89A (V) 15 (commonly referred to as the A(V)15) anti-submarine warfare SONAR system. The capability will measure user performance in gross metrics (threat identification, false positives, and latency) along with granular behavior assessment to support individualized after-action reviews and training scenarios focused on assessed student skill gaps and weaknesses. With a need to determine user performance measured against an expert standard, CTI proposes to develop an expert model for the automated production of expert traces on novel training scenarios used in student assessments. The gamification capability will be developed on a schedule to support integration with the A(V)15 Advanced Capability Build 21; it will inter-operate with the Navy's Training and Learning Architecture. The gamification capability will provide data to instructors along with public rankings (e.g. "leaderboards") for students. Entertainment software conventions (cut videos, customized avatars etc.) will be enabled and can be developed with gamification analytics.
