Research abstract

Ascendant Engineering Solutions (AES) proposes to enhance their proven MSGLPS 5 gimbal technology with an improved imaging system capable of resolving at NIIRS 9 performance levels. The existing Gimbal technology provides a Compact Launch Tube (CLT) compatible inertially stable platform on which a high-resolution / long focal-length EO camera will be employed. AES will leverage a core family of 5 CLT compatible gimbal (CLTG) solutions to maximize performance across applications while minimizing development cost. AES will develop the Long-Range variant (CLTG-LR) to achieve NIIRS9 capability and target location at long slant ranges. Phase 2 will implement the design architecture determined in Phase 1, and will demonstrate performance through both static and flight testing.
