Research abstract

The overall objective for this Phase II proposal is to deliver the Navy with an improved adsorbent for the CO2 removal system currently being designed for the new Columbia class submarines. The adsorbent material will be designed to function as a drop in replacement for the existing CO2 scrubber design. Efforts will focus on identifying optimum operating conditions for potential adsorbents, evaluating adsorbent lifetime, providing the adsorbent in the necessary form factor to match Navy specifications, and scaling up the adsorbent to allow for demonstration in a prototype unit.
