Methodology: Federal awards are grouped into technology categories using public award metadata including NAICS codes, award descriptions, agency names, and related USAspending fields. Regex keyword patterns classify AI / ML, cybersecurity, cloud, and data themes; NAICS codes provide fallback classification. The published warehouse refresh paginates USAspending contract-award queries (100 records per request) until up to 5,000 qualifying awards are stored. Values represent federal market activity and are not scoped to any CaptureIQ customer or pipeline.

These figures reflect the active filter set — category, time period, and agency — and are not scoped to any CaptureIQ customer account.

AI and machine learning awards are identified when award descriptions include terms such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks, or related language, with NAICS 541511/541512 as additional signals. The current sample includes $378.8M classified as AI / ML across 10 awards.
Cybersecurity spending includes contracts whose descriptions reference cybersecurity, information security, zero trust, threat detection, or similar themes, with NAICS 541513 as a supporting signal. The current sample includes $8.4B in cybersecurity-classified awards (142 awards).
Cloud contracts are classified from descriptions mentioning cloud computing, cloud services, SaaS, IaaS, cloud migration, or major cloud platforms, with NAICS 518210 providing a fallback. Cloud-classified awards in the current sample total $6.6B across 90 awards.
Data and analytics awards reference data platforms, analytics, business intelligence, ETL, data science, and related terms, with NAICS 541519 and 541690 as supporting codes. Data-classified awards in the current sample total $360.7B across 4758 awards.

Data is retrieved from USAspending.gov using federal contract award types and a technology NAICS slice (541511, 541512, 541519, 518210, 541513, 541690). The published dataset contains up to 5,000 normalized qualifying awards assembled from multiple USAspending queries. Individual source queries return up to 100 records per request. Categories are assigned using regular expressions on award descriptions with NAICS-based fallbacks. State totals aggregate place-of-performance fields. The map refreshes on a published warehouse schedule; if USAspending is temporarily unavailable, the page serves the last successful snapshot.
