Research abstract

MCT Industries proposes the development of two next-generation aerospace platforms—the WORKHRZ-UV (Self-Propelled Universal Platform) and the WORKHRZ-EX (Expeditionary Platform)—to respond to what senior Department of the Air Force (DAF) leadership has identified as one of the most critical and immediate threats to mission readiness. Air Force Global Strike Command, Logistics (AFGSC/A4W), warns: “the largest gap we face in the world of aircraft generation is between the modernization of our weapons and the obsolescence of our support equipment.” Fully Mission Capable (FMC) status remains the linchpin of the DAF Core Missions: Air offensive and defensive superiority; Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR); Rapid Global Mobility; Global Strike; and Command/Control. MCT’s WORKHRZ family answers this Joint Defense Need with a “BLUE SKY” strategic solution supporting FMC status of all DAF manned and unmanned aircraft. The WORKHRZ-UV is designed for in-garrison operations, enabling launching, inspection, component upgrades, and scheduled maintenance. The WORKHRZ-EX is a lightweight, collapsible, and stackable system optimized for resilient bases, supporting rapid deployment, acute repair, and battle damage assessment in contested environments. AFMC HQ/A4 Military Deputy Director Col Barnard’s support letter underscores the Platforms’ urgency: “the proposed next-generation MCT stands will play a crucial role in home station and contingency operation locations by ensuring our aircraft remain mission-ready. With ACE in mind, MCT’s proposal will consolidate multiple legacy variation capabilities/sizes into a single lighter and durable stand, occupying minimal space within our mobility aircraft. MCT will also include advanced corrosion prevention to meet the stringent demands of the Pacific theater of operation thereby saving the Air Force millions in lifecycle and replacement costs.” Seven MAJCOMs have deemed these platforms a critically urgent need and prioritized buy. MCT brings over 52 years of manufacturing expertise and is ranked in the top 5% of all DoD contractors by SPRS. The engineering and manufacturing will be executed entirely at MCT’s vertically integrated 26-acre U.S. facility. Operational Testing at Edwards AFB in coordination with AFLCMC/ROZ and AFMC leadership. Strategic partners include Caterpillar Inc., supporting powertrain, electrical, and diagnostics innovation, and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) for weight optimization. This effort is backed by committed DAF Customer AFLCMC/ROZ and DAF User AFMC Support Equipment Lead Command, Aerospace Ground Equipment Functional Manager.  Both are actively engaged in Requirements development, platform validation, and Operational Testing alongside end-users at Edwards AFB.  AFLCMC/ROZ has expressed strong intent to transition the WORKHRZ platforms to Phase III, and assist in fielding them as a Joint solution supporting aircraft readiness across the DoD enterprise.
