Research abstract

Impossible Objects is proposing to develop a low-cost fixed-wing high-strength long-distance unmanned aerial system (UAS) that can be manufactured in volume. To do this Impossible Objects (a high-speed 3D-printing company) will use a design developed by Titan Dynamics (an unmanned aerial vehicle design company) to develop a Group 2 UAS capable of the following:A) Range: Exceeds 1,000 miles (Stretch goal: Exceeds 2,000 miles) B) Price: Airframe costs less than $8K (Stretch goal: Less than $4K) C) Manufacturing speed: One airframe every 4 hours (Stretch goal: One every 2 hours) D) Arbitrary payload: Equipped with both a payload bay and drop pylons Proving a design that can be manufactured at these costs and at these rates with this long-distance capability would be an unmatched asset for the U.S.A.F. at a critical time in the evolution of warfare.
