Research abstract

QuesTek Innovations LLC, a leader in the field of Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME), proposes to develop an ICME analysis tools involving Bayesian analysis, variance analysis, uncertainty management and database comparison and assessment functionalities to address the issue of database and model quality. QuesTek will apply the computational tool to improve databases and models to address the issue of hot-corrosion prevalent in marine gas turbine engines and also develop better robust models for strength predictions of these alloys. These improved models and databases will be used in the design of a novel, high-strength, creep-resistant and hot corrosion resistant alloy. The tool will be developed and applied to HEA and Ni-based superalloy materials, examining processing/structure and structure/properties interactions, including phase stability, processing parameters, resultant microstructures, and strength models for these alloy systems. Successful ICME tools designs will be incorporated into commercial ICME tool packages in Phase III. Rolls Royce Corporation and GE Aviation, two of the worlds leading manufacturers of turbine engines, will provide feedback and guidance on key ICME goals.
