Research abstract

We will develop a suite of automated tools to produce multi-spectral target signatures with the variability inherent across a family of target types. Specifically, SGR will: characterize signature variability observed in five tracked and wheeled vehicles; determine sources of signature variability and define configuration variations needed; develop configuration parameters required to match modeled data; develop automated tools to manipulate geometry models; develop and evaluate an API to minimize impact on existing modeling and simulation framework; produce modeled signatures of six targets studied in Phase II; and validate tools developed and signatures modeled. The tools will manipulate intermediate files (e.g. facet files, mesh files) by articulating specific target assemblies to generate a series of compatible intermediate files. In order to accomplish realistic signature variability, articulation increments as well as minimum and maximum articulation ranges for components will be determined and incorporated in the tool. These parameters will be presented to users to allow selection of specific variations desired. The exported intermediate files (automatically generated by the tool) will then be imported and rendered using existing signature predictive codes (Xpatch, MuSES, Irma, etc.) to produce a series of target signatures with the requisite multi-spectral signature variability.
