Research abstract

The Kerberos team is developing a man-portable, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS)-based, open-architecture prototype system for executing reactive and targeted electronic attack (EA) operations against modern communication signals. This solution, called Electromagnetic Monitor and Broadcast System (EMBS) will offer an extensible platform designed to defeat current waveforms with open interfaces and modular components so additional techniques can quickly be incorporated as new threats emerge. This effort will culminate with the demonstration and delivery of the EMBS prototype with initial application capabilities. The EMBS system presents an innovative solution and addresses an immediate and unmet need by delivering the ability to perform successful EA operations against modern Anti-Jam (AJ) waveforms on a COTS-based tactical, modular, open-architecture platform, constrained by Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWaP-C).This capability has several commercial applications, such as:A research tool for military laboratory development in the areas of open radio frequency (RF) systems, capability convergence, modular and scalable platforms, software defined radio (SDR), and algorithm research for existing and emerging LPI, LPD, and AJ waveformsA full embodiment of scalable capabilities addressing the JEMSO mandate to secure spectrum dominance in all domains by facilitating lab-to-field technology transitions across platforms ranging from tactical-to-enterprise
