Research abstract

Chesapeake Technology Internationals (CTIs) proposed solution for the Cloud Data Synchronization with Limited Bandwidth Communications small business innovative research (SBIR) program is a technology framework that allows for flexible presentation of data to consumers (applications and analytic environments); resilience to intermittent and low bandwidth communications; automated, distributed synchronization of data state; and hosting of forward and distributed analytics to reduce interaction levels among nodes where possible. This capability, named Thunderstorm, is based on technology developed under an Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF) program but expanded to handle cloud synchronization and dynamic cloud construction and management at the tactical edge and intelligent data positioning to enhance access and availability while minimizing network utilization. CTIs Phase 1 analysis will identify the technologies and integration approaches for expanding the existing Thunderstorm capabilities to satisfy the stated needs of this SBIR program. This includes identifying relevant use cases against which the architectural and implementation approaches can be measured and validated. It also includes identifying how legacy systems can be easily incorporated into the framework and the overall technology stack can be positioned for transition into relevant programs of record.
