Research abstract

The Standardized Interface for Satellite Ground System Integration Technologies project will consolidate the end-to-end ground system for the lifetime of a satellite- from the very start of bench test- through Integration and Test (I&T) - to launch- and orbital operations. The end result will make satellite ground system development and integration easier and reusable across satellite programs, while also speeding the satellite development process, and reducing the end-to-end program technical risk. We call this system Bench-to-Orbit, or B2O. The objective of this Phase 1 SBIR is to develop a ground architecture that promotes ground system reuse between Integration & Test (I&T) and Operations, and from program to program. The proposed ground architecture incorporates key lessons learned in the development and deployment of both Common System Integration Laboratory (CSIL) and quantumCMD. It also highlights how the architecture is modular and supports new functionality via commercially supported open standards. From a Goddard Mission Services Evolution Center (GMSEC) compatibility perspective, the architecture developed will promote end-to-end interoperability with the overall USAF Enterprise Ground Services (EGS) architecture. Finally, the architecture will utilize cross task touchpoints and data products identified during Phase 1 to streamline processes and functions within the system.
