Research abstract

The objective of the present Phase II program is to develop a lambda~4.6 microns source based on a stack of quantum cascade laser bars with unprecedented power level exceeding 100 Watts as a whole, while maintaining good beam quality. Eos Photonics will leverage its experience building, cooling and packaging 1-D QCL array, in order to assemble several such bars into a 2D stack. The solution that will be developed during the Phase II performance period will be engineered to meet the requirements necessary to be (1) compatible with standard beam combining solutions and (2) scalable to the kilowatt level.
