Research abstract

The ultimate goals of this proposed effort are to automate terrestrial EMI emitter localization and identification (including accessing legacy databases and websites for frequency and flight information and plotting on Google Earth), realizing significant manpower savings; dramatically shorten EMI response time; provide improved situational awareness; recommend unautomatable investigative and mitigation steps; provide capabilities for the system to evolve without our involvement; and offer increased support for adversarial scenarios, both real and during training. To realize this goal will require development of a set of automated and automatable tools. An enhanced ABNet will, via an ALPS interface, monitor the RTS and DF antenna signals to detect and categorize EMI.An intuitive interface would present to the operator a description and categorization of the intrusion and its current impact on operations, if any. Based on details of the signal, one or more cases of EMI investigation methodologies would be retrieved and executed. The capabilities would include automatic retrieval of flight and other information from online databases and automatically plotting them and the DF data in Google Earth.TRACER will also automatically analyze the DF data to determine if the source is airborne, stationary, or a moving ship or ground vehicle.
