Research abstract

ABSTRACT: The proliferation of advanced radio-frequency denial technology by our adversaries has strengthened the need for more capable passive threat detection sensors.Infrared Search and Track (IRST) sensors provide a strong capability for long range threat detection, however, conventional systems are large and heavy impeding their incorporation on new platforms.Adsys Controls Lightweight Airborne Dual-Mode IRST leverages new component technology with advanced signal processing techniques yielding the ability for detection of low signature threats at long standoff ranges with an extremely low SWaP.This capability will enable new manned and unmanned platforms without yielding valuable payload capability. The technology is extensible to other applications and users including border patrol, search and rescue, fire prevention, and airborne sense and avoid.; BENEFIT: Due to the extremely low SWaP of the LADI sensor, this technology will enable threat detection to be incorporated on a broad range of vehicles without impact to primary mission capability. It will additionally enable a number of other mission applications in the civil and commercial communities where wide are sensing of low SNR targets is required. These applications include airborne sense and avoid to enable UAS/NAS integration, search and rescue missions, and border surveillance.
