Research abstract

ABSTRACT:OPC will provide a flight ready TRL 5 star tracker suitable for gathering navigation data day and night at 60,000 feet. In addition, four key risk reduction activities will be completed: stabilization in a high vibration environment, dual wavelength imaging, dual wavelength interferometry and wide angle pointing in a high vibration environment. Acceptance testing will be at Eglin AFB.BENEFIT:The TRL 5 star tracker can be combined with an IMU, GPS unit and flight recorder to provide a complete flight data set suitable for optimizing navigation algorithms. It will thus enable a significant and early risk reduction activity.
