Research abstract

Phase I of Enhanced Optical Imagery, Transmission, and Analysis (EOITA) will conduct research to develop Generative Artificial Intelligence methodology and algorithms that optimize and enhance current imagery processes. áImagery is a key component in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance activities for the DoD and Intelligence community. áThere is a vast amount of imagery available from satellites, manned aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and previously captured imagery. áPhase I Enhanced Optical Imagery, Transmission, and Analysis (EOITA) research will focus on enhancements, optics, áimagery, transmission, and analysis to streamline processes, improve decision making, and make more effective imagery available to the DoD and other agencies. áThis information and research will lead to determining several unique Generative AI prototype methodologies, algorithms, and software requirements for enhancing imagery.ááPhase I independent open-sourced research will break the problem down into 5 manageable categories: Enhance, Optical, Imagery, Transmission, and Analysis. áEnhance will explore ways to optimize and enhance current imagery processes instead of outright replacement. áWe intend to build upon the existing imagery apparatus and develop several unique theories and methodologies to use for prototypes in Generative Artificial Intelligence. áWe will explore existing commercial Generative Artificial Intelligence imagery capabilities that fit our custom needs. áThe Optical category will thoroughly investigate the various optical systems and how they capture and present various imagery for spatial awareness. áExamples include black and white, color, black and green, and infrared. áImagery is the most important final product, so we will explore and research how the other áfour categories interact to produce optimized imagery for consumption and review. áThe Transmission category will focus áon how the imagery is passed around the various platforms to look for room for increased efficiency and alternative presentation methods. áThe Analysis category will closely investigate how the imagery is analyzed by both humans and machines. áWe will develop ways to optimize machine response, human response, and the human/machine combination for imagery analysis. ááPhase I research from the five categories of Enhance, Optical, Imagery, Transmission, and Analysis will be used to finalize suggested algorithms, methodologies, and requirements for prototypes for Generative Artificial Intelligence imagery applications. áPhase II Enhanced Optical Imagery, Transmission, and Analysis áwill develop, build and test several unique and trusted Generative AI imagery prototypes for the DoD, the Intelligence Community, and other Federal Agencies such as NOAA, NASA, USGS, and FEMA.
