Research abstract

The United States Navyĺs Pacific Fleet operates across the vast and challenging expanse of the Pacific Ocean. In this remote and dispersed environment, efficient medical logistics are not just importantŚtheyĺre critical for the health and readiness of our naval personnel. Currently, thereĺs a significant inefficiency: assets designated for medical resupply are not being fully leveraged for casualty evacuation. This represents an untapped opportunity to optimize our existing resources.áTo address the critical challenges in medical logistics faced by the Pacific Fleet, we propose the development of the System for Intelligent Medical Planning and Logistics, or SIMPL. Building upon our previously developed Intelligent Logistics Planning System, SIMPL leverages advanced Artificial Intelligence, including Large Language Models and hybrid intelligent agents, to create a powerful, trustworthy solution.áThe adoption of SIMPL would have a significant impact on the Department of Defense by revolutionizing medical logistics operations. By optimizing resource utilizationŚspecifically, leveraging assets for both medical resupply and casualty evacuationŚwe enhance operational efficiency and responsiveness in medical emergencies. SIMPLĺs AI-driven analytics reduce the time required to gather and analyze critical information from hours to mere minutes, allowing personnel to focus on strategic decision-making.
