Research abstract

Uptake proposes the development and demonstration of an advanced predictive maintenance solution tailored for Department of the Air Force (DAF) ground vehicle fleets. Building on proven commercial AI/ML analytics, the Phase II effort will adapt Uptake’s platform to integrate historical maintenance data, CAN bus signals, and fault codes into a unified model optimized for Air Force operational requirements. Key technical objectives include system-level integration with DAF maintenance workflows, edge-to-cloud architecture for disconnected environments, and cybersecurity hardening for secure operations. The project will validate system performance through simulated fault injection, real-world operational trials on select vehicle platforms, and structured user feedback sessions with Airmen. Anticipated outcomes are improved maintenance forecasting accuracy, reduced downtime, and enhanced decision support for fleet managers. This effort addresses critical gaps in readiness and sustainment operations and aligns with DAF digital modernization and Condition-Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) initiatives. The Phase II deliverables include a validated prototype system, technical documentation, and a final demonstration, positioning the solution for transition into Phase III operational use.
