Research abstract

MYMIC LLC will develop a prototype Complex Incident Response Training System-Combat Medic (CIRTS-CM). This game-based training system will provide a matrixed learning and certification progression for combat medics and corpsmen responding to Improvised Explosive Device (IED) incidents with a focus on both casualty and site management. The system will consist of five components: a tactical scenario component, a medical scenario component, a training matrix component, an administration component which includes a performance review system, and a system support component. CIRTS will allow the individual Medic trainee, based upon completion of a thorough training matrix, to develop their abilities through realistic and increasingly more challenging medical and operational situations. In addition, CIRTS will incorporate critical game design traits that maximize the trainee’s experience and engagement with the system.
