Research abstract

Metron proposes to develop signal processing algorithms that will provide a surface mine hunting capability using existing SMCM UUV hardware technology. Detection and classification algorithms will be designed to meet the challenges of shallow water (SW) and very shallow water (VSW) environments by incorporating novel techniques to reduce surface reverberation and mitigate multipath interference. The objective of the proposed effort is to develop an environmentally robust surface mine hunting system with a low false alarm rate.
