Research abstract

For the Phase II effort, Metron’s objective is to provide a standalone capability providing a training reinforcement environment for the full development, deployment, and revision for Surface ASW Synthetic Training - ``Game Technology'''' SAST-GT. We propose to borrow significantly from the two fields of applied mathematical statistics and commercial gaming technology. Using applied mathematical statistics, faithful display ready generated data will be designed to imitate that which is observed at sea. Commercial gaming technology will engage the user by capturing interest in the training activity while providing an effective training session. SAST-GT will allow the player to practice skills acquired during pipeline and classroom training as well as make the practice of these skills as entertaining as possible. All the while in this process we seek to solicit and follow the advice and feedback of the trainers in the field that will be using SAST-GT to train and develop effective Surface Active Sonar Specialists. Players utilizing the training environment of SAST-GT will be able to successfully sift through and identify specific signals related to contacts of interest to allow tactical exploitation of the information.
